中山大學2024年新年賀詞

律回春晖漸，日月開新元。

當新年鐘聲敲響，迎着2024年第一縷曙光，中山大學開啟了新的世紀華年。值此辭舊迎新之際，我們謹代表學校向全校師生員工、離退休老同志、廣大海内外校友和長期以來關心、支持中山大學建設與發展的社會各界朋友，緻以美好的新年祝福！

2023年，是全面貫徹落實黨的二十大精神的開局之年，中山大學堅持初心使命、繼往開來，紮實開展學習貫徹習近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想主題教育。這一年，學校勝利召開第十四次黨代會，全面系統總結了過去五年事業發展取得的主要成績，提出了加快建設中國特色、世界一流大學“兩步走”戰略安排，明确了今後五年工作的主要目标、重點任務和實施路徑。堅持加強黨對學校工作的全面領導，堅持立德樹人的根本任務，以高質量黨建推動中國特色世界一流大學建設取得新成就。

2023年2月28日，中國共産黨中山大學第十四次代表大會在廣州校區南校園開幕

一年來，中大厚植教育沃土，為黨育人、為國育才。學校堅持以習近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想鑄魂育人，激勵廣大師生心懷“國之大者”，堅持以學生成長為中心，努力将通識教育和專業教育相融合，通過“加強基礎、促進交叉、尊重選擇、卓越教學”，構建多樣性開放型可持續改進的人才培養體系。深入推動教學改革創新，基礎數學教師團隊做“大先生”、求“大學問”，獲評全國高校黃大年式教師團隊，營造了教書育人的良好氛圍。

一年來，中大點亮人才燈塔，凝心聚力、載譽而歸。學校積極推進新時代人才隊伍建設，堅持黨管人才，按照“适度規模、優化結構、注重質量、追求卓越”的基本原則，全面實施教研系列教師“預聘-長聘”聘用制度，努力建設高水平師資隊伍。馬駿教授當選中國科學院院士，徐瑞華教授榮獲2023年度何梁何利基金科學與技術進步獎，保繼剛教授獲頒第16屆尤利西斯獎，中大學者還榮獲全國創新争先獎、中華醫學獎等各類獎項。王猛教授團隊發現鎳基高溫超導體，在基礎研究領域實現了“從0到1”的突破。

一年來，中大瞄準科學前沿，埋頭苦幹、銳意進取。學校着力推進科技自立自強，堅持“四個面向”，凸顯基礎研究“兩個主力軍”作用。醫藥領域2個國重室通過重組，醫藥、工程領域新獲批共建2個全國重點實驗室，立項建設多個首批新序列部級平台；獲批國家自然科學基金委員會創新研究群體1個，國家傑出青年科學基金項目13項，優秀青年科學基金項目18項，創曆史最好成績；國家自然科學基金立項數連續八年位居全國高校前三。

一年來，中大服務國家需求，初心如磐、砥砺前行。學校服務國家重大戰略和粵港澳大灣區發展，增強“強國建設、教育何為”的曆史使命感。國家社科基金和教育部人文社科項目繼續保持優勢，國家級重點和重大項目立項率顯著提升。學校獲批鑄牢中華民族共同體意識研究基地等兩個省部級平台，推動成立鄉村振興聯合研究院，促進校企合作研究，有效對接粵港澳大灣區發展需求，紮實推動廣東鄉村振興戰略和“百千萬工程”的實施。

一年來，中大書寫家國情懷，同心同德、共赴山海。學校全力開展對口幫扶和援疆、援藏工作，教育、醫療、服務地方發展多領域建設碩果累累。積極助力雲南鳳慶和廣東連州、高州等地，鞏固拓展脫貧攻堅成果，“辦實事、求實效”，推進“雙百行動”結對共建。中大人以強大的時代責任感，擔起曆史重任，為實現共同富裕、鄉村全面振興，國家和廣東的高質量發展貢獻高等教育的力量。

星光不問趕路人，江河眷顧奮楫者。中山大學的建設發展成就，是每一位中大人撸起袖子加油幹出來的！我們向全體師生員工和校友們緻以最誠摯的敬意，中大的每一個高光時刻都凝聚着你們的心血和汗水！我們也要感謝每一位關心關注中大發展的朋友，中大的每一項成就取得都離不開你們的支持與奉獻！

世紀中大、山高水長，百年恰似風華正茂。2024年将迎來中山大學百年華誕，在這承前啟後的重要曆史節點，我們要以習近平新時代中國特色社會主義思想為指導，深刻領會高等教育的曆史使命和時代責任，堅持高質量内涵式發展，努力開創服務黨和國家事業發展的新局面。路雖遠，行将至；事雖難，做則成。我們将踔厲奮發、笃行不怠，在建設中國特色、世界一流大學新征程上走在前列，奮力書寫中大新的百年篇章！

With spring light returning to earth, a fresh year thus begins.

As the New Year bell tolls amid the first ray of sunshine of 2024, Sun Yat-sen University has embarked on a year celebrating its centenary.At the time of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, we would like to extend sincere New Year greetings to our students, current and retired faculty and staff, alumni at home and abroad, and friends from all walks of life that have always cared for and supported the development of Sun Yat-sen University.

In 2023, the first year for fully implementing the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress, SYSU adhered to its original aspiration, carried forward its development, and earnestly organized education on the theme of studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. 2023 saw the successful convening of SYSU’s 14th Party Congress. Upon a comprehensive and systematic review of the major achievements made in the previous five years, the university outlined the “Two-Step” strategic plan to accelerate the building of a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, and clearly set the main goals, key tasks, and action pathways for the five years to come. Adhering to strengthening the overall leadership of the Party over its work as well as the fundamental task of educating students with high moral standards, SYSU is right on its way to new accomplishments in building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics through high-quality Party building.

In 2023, SYSU nurtured a rich education environment, cultivating highly-competent young people for the Party and the nation. The university has been committed to educating students with the guiding principles of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, inspiring faculty and students to keep in mind the greater cause and top priorities of the nation. With a focus on student development, the university strived to integrate general education and professional training, and build a diverse, open, and continuously-improving talent development system through “strengthening foundations, promoting cross-disciplinary studies, respecting choices, and achieving teaching excellence”. Efforts have also been made in the innovation of teaching, fostering an enabling atmosphere for teaching and cultivating students. A typical example is our basic mathematics teaching team, which aspired to be great educators and pursue academic excellence, and was awarded the title of “National University-level Teacher Team in the Style of Huang Danian”.

In 2023, SYSU lit up the lighthouse for talents, who gathered strength, consolidated efforts and scored significant achievements. Adhering to the Party’s overall leadership over talents and professionals work, and following the basic principles of “moderate scale, optimized structure, emphasis on quality, and pursuit of excellence”, the university actively promoted the construction of talent teams for the new era. The “tenure track” system for teaching and research staff was fully implemented to ensure high-level faculty teams building. A number of SYSU scholars won top awards or titles. For instance, Professor Ma Jun was elected an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Xu Ruihua was honored with The Science and Technology Awards of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation in 2023; Professor Bao Jigang won The UNWTO Ulysses Prize for Excellence in the Creation and Dissemination of Knowledge in Tourism. Some other SYSU scholars were also awarded various honors such as the National Innovation Award and the Chinese Medical Science Award. Professor Wang Meng’s team made a breakthrough discovery of nickel-based high-temperature superconductors, marking a great leap from 0 to 1 in the field of basic research.

In 2023, with focus on the forefront of science, SYSU worked diligently and forged ahead with determination. The university was committed to achieving sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening, emphasizing the “Four Orientations”, and highlighting the role of basic research as the “Two Main Forces”. Two national key laboratories in the medical field underwent reorganization, and two new co-built national key laboratories were approved in the fields of medicine and engineering. Multiple first-batch new sequence ministerial-level platforms were approved for establishment. One innovative research group was approved by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, along with 13 projects from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and 18 projects from the Excellent Young Scientists Fund, setting a new record for the best results ever. The university has ranked among the top three nationwide for eight consecutive years in terms of the number of approved projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

In 2023, staying true to its original aspiration, SYSU pressed forward with determination by aligning itself with needs of the nation.The university served major national strategies as well as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, enhancing its historical mission of “fulfilling the role of education in building a strong nation”. The university continued to maintain its leading position in the National Social Science Fund and the Ministry of Education’s humanities and social science projects, with a significant increase of the approval rate of national key projects and major projects. Two provincial and ministerial-level platforms, including the research base for consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation, were approved to be set up by SYSU. Efforts were also made to establish the Rural Revitalization Joint Research Institute, facilitate university-enterprise collaborative research, effectively align with the development needs of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and concretely implement Guangdong’s rural revitalization strategy and the “One Hundred Prefectures, One Thousand Townships, and Ten Thousand Villages” project.

In 2023, SYSU demonstrated a strong sense of patriotism, united hearts and minds of its people, and dispatched SYSUers to various places in need. The university comprehensively rolled out targeted assistance for Xinjiang and Xizang, achieving great success there in such fields as education, medical care, and local  development. SYSU actively supported places such as Fengqing Prefecture in Yunnan Province, Liangzhou Prefecture, and Gaozhou Prefecture, both in Guangdong Province, consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation. Through “promoting practical work and seeking concrete results”, the university actively participated in the pairing up and co-construction within the “Double Hundred Project” (one hundred universities pairing up with one hundred prefectures to promote development of the rural areas in Guangdong). With a strong sense of responsibility, SYSUers have taken initiatives to shoulder historic responsibilities, making the contribution of higher education to common prosperity, comprehensive rural revitalization, and high-quality development of Guangdong Province and China as a whole.

Stars always light up the path for tireless wayfarers. Rivers always favor those who row the hardest. The great development and achievements of Sun Yat-sen University in the past year have been made not without all SYSUers rolling up their sleeves and working hard. We would therefore like to pay our highest tribute to all faculty, students, staff, and alumni. Every glorious moment of Sun Yat-sen University is a testimony to their efforts and dedication! We also wish to express gratitude to all friends who have shown great care about and interest in the development of Sun Yat-sen University. We owe SYSU’s success to their help and support!

As the year 2024 has come, Sun Yat-sen University is approaching its centenary. Having gone through a hundred long years, this university is still in its prime, and remains determined as ever to achieve lasting greatness. At this historical juncture, SYSU will continue to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, further understand and practice the historical mission and responsibility of higher education, and adhere to high-quality and organic development principles for new achievements in the undertakings of the Party and the nation. No destination is too far for a perseverant traveler to reach. No task is too difficult for an earnest practitioner to accomplish. Let us press forward vigorously and diligently, continue working tirelessly along our new journey of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics, and write another brilliant chapter in Sun Yat-sen University’s next hundred years!
